Out and about
Begin right here in Mells. Wander past its old stone buildings to St Andrew’s Church, call in at the village shop or the Walled Garden, and linger over a drink or a meal at the Talbot Inn. Beyond the village are wonderful walks and bike rides through the Somerset countryside, with plenty more excellent pubs to discover along the way.
Nearby Frome is full of life, with independent shops, cafés and its lively Artisan Market. Bruton makes another lovely outing, with art and good food at Hauser & Wirth Somerset. You could explore Nunney Castle, spend a day at Longleat, or visit Stourhead for its house and beautiful gardens.
Bath offers glorious architecture and museums; historic Glastonbury, famous the world over for its festival, has a character all its own. There is always something to do here, and a lovely place to come home to at the end of the day.
